Bad argument for many reasons (and lazy). But Maduro was a criminal, supported Russia evading US and EU sanctions, and his gang and their disastrous economic policies resulted in around 1/3rd of Venezuelans leaving the country resulting in a humanitarian disaster.
Nevertheless, Venezuela remains in the same situation as before. Aside from Maduro, the corrupt and criminal government remains intact, the head of state handpicked by the US president, no public elections in sight. There has been no political change whatsoever apart from the takeover of oil fields.

I think they are more motivated than ever and other countries will follow. North Korea shows that Trump will kiss the ass of countries that have nuclear weapons, no matter how bad they are. And he will kick around countries that don’t have them. If I were Iran, I would put every possible effort into obtaining nuclear weapons. Probably from Trump’s best friend Kim Jong Un.
> and other countries will follow You sound gleeful about the idea of nuclear proliferation. It's unfortunate that so many have stopped caring about the institutions and liberal world order we created. Oh well. If/once Iran gets one we'll give one to Saudi Arabia at least and make sure Israel's program is well supported. Then we can make sure Germany has them and Poland too if they want them. Korea and Japan will als…

Nuclear weapons are a special case though. Plus Ukraine didn't have the ability to use them anyway without launch codes as far as I'm aware.
Oh, those magical "Nuclear launch codes" - that turned out to be set to 0000 in the US or used a bike key in the Brtisih case ? Turns out being able to actually use the weapon in an emergency tops the codes not working.

What was Iran's role? Defending themselves?
Let me ask you a question. Can you explain over the last 5 years any bad or unjust thing Iran has done? I'm curious what your list is.

It was admitted incompetence in target selection, potentially due to misuse of AI, acting on out of date intelligence. This has been heavily reported on and no counter-story has been proffered. You introduced a whataboutalism. I pointed out whataboutalisms are ridiculous when it comes to dead children. The frustrating part of all of this is we had a working agreement with Iran, with numerous mechanisms to ensure comp…
> You introduced a whataboutalism. I pointed out whataboutalisms are ridiculous when it comes to dead children. Sure, but you should be talking Iran killing people since they killed many more and did so on purpose instead of on accident. You keep using the term incompetence because you have an axe to grind. Actions matter but intentions get a say too. > You introduced a whataboutalism. Well I'm certainly not going to…
I have no control of, or say, in how Iran operates.
I am a US Citizen who votes in the US and who is concerned with the actions my government takes on my behalf.
If Iran shouldn't "need an agreement" not to build nuclear weapons, what exactly is our current aggression seeking to accomplish? How does it end? How do we know its over?
When there is no longer a single person in Iran?

Can't read the Twitter link, but that sounds made up. Where in the battlefield decision making process are they listening to social media recordings to make combat decisions?
It gave demoralized soldiers an excuse to flee rather than fight. Nobody was going to question the reprieve offered by an order to retreat, even fake.

#608If Dems win next time around they should repeal the AUMF at the very least. We cannot be at war at all times.
I think USA has not been at war like less than 5 years in total since its creation. source: https://www.raffaellocortina.it/scheda-libro/piergiorgio-odi... I don't have the book here with me so I cannot check the exact amount of years but it's ridiculously small.

I don't recall the houthis disrupting shipping before 2018. The status quo under before that point was fine for the global economy and for the US. If it wasn't fine for Israel, that's a problem for their own military to deal with, ideally without US backing that drags other countries into the issue. Good luck with non proliferation but I think the very obvious "we can attack and invade countries without nukes but can…
> Good luck with non proliferation Hey I mean this is your problem too, wherever you are from. You seem a little nonchalant about nuclear proliferation which most consider to be a rather serious matter because of the potential for real nuclear war or nuclear attacks.
If you've got a good way to stop people from wanting nuclear power and weapons you can try it, and sincerely good luck to you. It would be nice. I don't think you can stop Iran though.

> Iran clearly has the capability to flatten every major hospital and university and desalination plant in Israel its not clear at all. They clearly tried to hit Izrael with barrages of missiles, but looks like their targeting systems suck.
I suggest you look into the many confirmed impacts in Israel, including at heavily protected airbases and downtown Tel Aviv where the regime embeds its military intelligence centers. There's a reason why Israel has stopped directly striking Iran.
