Man. What is it with this wave of nationalistic zealotry that seems to be sweeping most of the world? Has it just been long enough since World War 2 that it's already time to re-learn these lessons?

Even more recently, we saw the utter destruction brought by nationalists after the break-up of Yugoslavia no more than 25 years ago. In Bosnia, nationalist zealots killed civilians and committed genocide. If you've forgotten, look up Sarajevo and Srebrenica. There were murder camps put up by "Make Serbia Great Again" type nationalists. Their stated goal: "to contain the spread of Islam in Europe." Only 25 years ago..…

> If you've forgotten, look up Sarajevo and Srebrenica.

OK I did, and what I see is a lot of innocent people killed in another episode of crybully tactic of Islamic expansionism. Attack and then cry foul and claim the victim status when you face retaliation. In Sarajevo Muslims started killing Serbs months before the war even started. In Srebrenica Muslims were indiscriminately killing Serbs in that area for years before the Serbs lashed out.

> here were murder camps put up by "Make Serbia Great Again" type nationalists. Their stated goal: "to contain the spread of Islam in Europe."

If that was their stated goal why did they offer the presidency of Yugoslavia to Muslims in attempt to avoid the war? It looks to me Serbs preferred staying in Yugoslavia because that made them a slight majority and the Bosnian Muslims proffered breaking up Yugoslavia hoping that would made them a slight majority in Bosnia. Wartime Muslim leader Isetbegovich was working on it since the 1970s. Publishing Muslim Declaration and musing about Islamic country, war, visiting Middle East to garner support from radical Muslims, etc.

> And today the President of the United States is a man who sounds just like Milosevic.

Baseless hyperbole.

> This rehabilitation of nationalism is the greatest disappointment of my lifetime.

As opposed to continuous rehabilitation of vile medieval ideology also known as Islam? The pot calling the kettle black.

Indian Judiciary is in pathetic state; 75% rapists are acquitted and 40 million cases are pending in Courts and 80% Judges in India are Brahmin;

Exactly, so it is a good thing that Hindus who have emigrated from an actual genocide(not a speculation) with scant notice in major media both in India and abroad, are finally getting a chance at citizenship Given the opposition, the CAA law might be struck down. The absurdity of much of this thread is that measures which help active victims of genocide are being opposed. The book Blood Telegram, by Gary Bass about a…

Weren't those primarily Muslims who were killed in the then East Pakistan? Anyway, that's who the state was was set up for.

Bengalis were attacked, but Hindus were specifically singled out by the Pakistan Army. Just look at the sources.

And you can refer to my comment below where I said that Ahmadis should be included in my opinion.

The fact that they're not included shows the bias that the government had. It's obvious

We don't even know how many Ahmadis are even coming to India, but we do know there are millions of Hindus, Sikhs, Christians and other minorities.

Moreover, Hindu girls are being abducted and being force converted and married away. I have not seen any similar news related to Ahmadis.

So, this law is about helping those who need to be helped en masse, Ahmadi cases can be dealt with on a case by case basis under existing laws.

Because India is providing refuge to Hindus and other minorities who are being persecuted in neighboring Islamic nations. In Pakistan Hindu teenagers are regularly abducted, converted to Islam and married away. India is giving refuge to these people. Muslims are not similarly persecuted in Islamic nations.

> Muslims are not similarly persecuted in Islamic nations. As I responded to another similar comment, this is not true at all. There are minority sects within Islam, depending on the country. The followers of those do get persecuted on religious grounds (look up Shias, Ahmediyas, etc.) by the majority.

Sunni-Shia is a sectarian, within Islam, conflict. No Shia teenaged girls are abducted and converted to Sunni.

But that is happening to Hindu, Sikh and other minorities.

The situation is different. Hindu & Sikh have just one home country, Shia have other Shia majority countries.

> This government is going nuts trying to create a hindu muslim divide. Create a Hindu-Muslim divide? If it is being created now, then how come India was partioned in 1947 on religious basis?

If you are clear with the partition of India, Pakistan divided itself from India to be a primarily Muslim country. India on the other hand, chose to be secular. India is home to all major religions in the world. And now we are taking a step backwards by creating this divide. Many of these people speak the same language, have the same culture and have lived their whole life in India, and the government just decides to…

> India on the other hand, chose to be secular.

Was there a plebiscite at that time regarding if India should be Hindu or secular? If not how can we say that India chose to be secular.
