That's a very good idea. We do it for sensitive stuff like nukes, maybe we should start regarding vital telecoms and networking stuff the same way.

We don't really source much except cheap labor from China. On the surface it seems like the Chinese make the bulk of the profit off something like an iPhone but really they make very little. I am saying having the US do it is less frightening than China doing it. The Chinese government is still, after all, a communist dictatorship censoring everything. Their internet is more censored than Iran’s. This same Chinese government killed 30 million people during the revolution.

Its not hypocrisy to believe that cops should shoot criminals, but ordinary citizens doing.

The CIA protects us, every action they do makes us safer.

The CIA does a lot of things, but the reason is to protect us. We may not understand why they did something but their motives are always true.

I agree. We can't control China's behavior but the tariffs do a good job of controlling our own behavior since they punish us more then China. So if you are single sourcing everything in China you will be punished more then those who have more sources. Challenge is the next President will back right off and we will be where we were before.

I'm not sure I support the wider set of tariffs (I really don't know a lot about the impact of that), but I totally support the banning of buying major telecom equipment from foreign countries.
