Yes but that 10% is all that matter to the people that matter to the business. Like a car, most people care about how it looks and how they interact with it... the only people who care what is under the hood, for the most part, are other engineers.

Understandable but why would you assume people will stop getting a taste for hacking just because LLMs exist? Why will they stop just because of that? Technology will make them lazy just because they can prompt an AI now? I think the human drive for excellence and tinkering cannot just be vanished just because LLMs exist. In my experience, using LLM's for generating code has definitely dulled my capacity to think about function hierarchies, composition and having a "picture" in my head of what will go where in the repository.

Raw "leetcode" algorithm intuition and database modelling/SQL are still largely intact for me because I never trust LLMs for those and want to actually understand what I'm building. But it's scary to think how easy it is to have your skills eroded and how quickly you become dependent on these tools.

To be honest with you, I think this is pointless. However hostile this might sound, the active userbase of HN seems to be extremely dismissive to the thought of LLM detectors and they think that all those LLM written articles are actually human written. If you don’t know how to write well, the AI slop is less obvious. That’s my theory at least, I don’t understand how people can read these nonsense sentences and believe a human actually wrote it.
