Old articles frequently reach the top of HN. There are many great articles that people only discover now rather than when they were originally posted.

But aren't you also "count-shaming" parent comment for preferring women with specific number of previous partners? Maybe they are not the only one frustrated.
Also, in Muslim countries and regions it is typically expected for a woman to have zero previous partners to get married, or at least having relationship only within a marriage.

A lot of non-atheists are also vocally opposed to, say, teaching evolution in schools. It's easy to see how someone might think atheists typically believe in something that does contradict evolution.

I will say that I've seen multiple definitions of the 666 rule where the last 6 represents either penis length or a 6-pack. From personal experience, I will say that maintaining a 6 pack makes you much more desirable in the eyes of women than, uh, the other option. I'm also not much of a dater, but my friends alway…
For a well earning man with a white collar job, keeping a six pack requires a large amount of time away from work.
So it probably is a good proxy measure for quite a few desirable character traits, such as diligence and discipline.

Guys don't follow that rule (unless they are gay), they worry about women following it . It appears to be originating from a post on the (rather toxic and apparently now defunct) reddit sub /r/FemaleDatingStrategy many years ago, but apparently is still being brought up.

That's the male equivalent of women asking why men care about boobs and body count. The answer is "evolved intuition", like it or not.
I would liken it more to the male equivalent of facial beauty or weight: most men have a general level of facial beauty and weight they expect in a partner. And if not met, there is really nothing else that can help bind the attraction. For women, that is height. But yes, it is "evolved intuition."

I can not count the number of times i have seen average and above men go out with below average women simply because they where friendly to them and gave them attention.
For multiple decades now any women could just pull up there phone and be overwhelmed with attention and dates on the level as only the top 20% of men.

#190I worked with a short, partially bald guy, but he could charm the socks off any girl. Pretty sure; he didn't care a wit for 6/6/6.
"Charming" a girl, which can just involve making a joke/ass out of yourself to make her politely laught, and actually getting AND staying with her are two entirely different things.
