At least for all the surveillance the Chinese do - the standard of life is improving overall. We don't even get that shit here in the US. Our life just gets worse by practically every measure as the years go on and we're taken advantage of on top of it.

What benchmark are you using for standard of life?

Years of salary to purchase home. Life expectancy. Obesity rates. Overall life satisfaction surveys. Loneliness rates. Suicide rate.

I could go on.

If Apartheid South Africa could last just a little bit longer, they would still be an apartheid state like Israel is today.

Western media is just as complicit in this genocide as the fascists in charge of the Israeli government. And media are self-censoring which is reprehensible.

The idea of Hamas wouldn't exist if Gaza (and the West Bank) wasn't occupied by land, air and sea; their land stolen on a daily basis, and Palestinian people treated as subhuman animals.

The pager attack indiscruminantly attacked healthcare workers and killed a 9 year old girl and another child. It was the definition of untargeted, immoral and unprofessional. How does eliminating over 3% of a population, of which the majority are women and children amount to anything but deliberate extermination? There is nothing defensive about the IOF, or the army which calls palestinian citizens "human animals" an…

There is nothing indiscriminate about attacking Hizbollah pagers. There is however something indiscriminate about attacking civilians like on Oct 7. Targeting civilians as a matter of fact. Even if someone called them "animals" it's hardly equivalent to women being raped and having their breasts cut off, and being stabbed while being raped. That would be "treating" people like animals. Let's not forget who launched t…

There is a strong irony in focusing specifically on the weaponisation of rape in war as an act of terror where the official rabbi of the idf states that rape against palestinians in justified in times of war, and that the idf only has a 1% conviction rate in cases of sexual violences offences against palestinian prisoners by israeli army forces. Even the name of the attack by Hamas "Al-Aqsa flood" is a reference to the decades of persecution and systemic dehumanisation and othering by Israeli forces. The world didn't begin on October 7.

To explain further. I can't imagine why anyone would post about Jews on my local NextDoor or FB group. It's just not a topic that comes up outside of Jewish community events, like holidays. There are certainly no Jewish community events in Bangladesh. If they are writing posts about Jews like were posted about Rohingya, then maybe it's not just "posts on Facebook". You are the one who seems to be uptight, bringing up…

It was already dead otherwise I would have downvoted it too. Why? Because the implication of your original post is the only reason that fb group would post about those topics is for bad reasons. Why can’t there just be a casual conversation about something that was all over the news?

In what context does your local neighborhood FB group raise Jews (or any other non-local ethnicity for that matter) as a topic of discussion?

are you under the impression that 70 years of attacks on Israel are humanitarian? I'm sorry but rape is not ironic. The attacks on Oct 7 were absolutely where this conflict started, as there was a ceasefire or if you want to go further back. How come jews were attacked before zionism? Also Israel is the only party here seeking peace. What's the conviction rate of Hamas rapes? Zero. Also, unlike Hamas, the IDF does not use rape as a tool of war.

They do all the time, but Israel sabotages any attempt to reach a two-state solution. Take for example the so-called Great March of Return (2018), where thousands of Palestinians in Gaza, who lived under Israeli blockade (land, sea, and air) for over a decade, marched peacefully towards the border with Israel to protest the blockade. What did Israel do?

- Israeli snipers shot a large number of protestors

- 214 Palestinians, including 46 children, were killed, and over 36,000, including nearly 8,800 children have been injured

- 81% of the gunshots were to the legs

- 122 people had one or both their legs amputated (including 20 children)

https://www.ohchr.org/en/hr-bodies/hrc/co-iopt/report2018-op...

Also, what kind of peace Israel wants when they let their settlers attack Palestinians in the West Bank, aided by the Israeli military, and without consequences? All Israeli settlements are illegal under international law. Maybe they should start dismantling those settlements first?

If Israel wants peace, they should accept the two-state solution and let the Palestinians have self-determination, instead of making their life hell on earth with their apartheid regime.

> Public opinion is a strategic asset. Imagine if the electorate of their arms dealer turned against them. I'm not saying there aren't other possible motivations. Indeed, i'm sure Israel would love all its PR problems to go away. My point is, that if we assume for the sake of argument that Israel isn't doing anything sketchy, i would still expect the stuff in the article to be true. Therefor it is very bad evidence o…

Presumably, every country in the world can ask US companies nicely to imprint their foreign policy on domestic moderation. Even I could ask; but why would Meta agree to do it?

Presumably because violent content really does decrease the value of their site, and meta is in this to make $$$. Broadly speaking people don't like content inciting violence, and will go elsewhere if there is too much of it. Just look at what happened to twitter.

You're right, attacking civilians is bad. So what does it say about a nation when it kills at least fifty thousand? (https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6...)

"Israeli Campaign" is it really that weird for someone to ask to take down posts calling for their annihilation?

The posts are not calling for Israel's annihilation. They call for stopping the genocide. The posts merely document what Israel is doing in Gaza, since Israel doesn't allow independent journalists to verify and show the world the carnage it's causing to the people of Gaza.

Poignant quote. Should we as a society accept students who are calling for violence and intifada on Israel or Jewish people in general? If anything some of those pro-Palestinian protests were more reminiscent of the 1933 “German Firm” boycotts the quote mentions than not: > A boycott sign posted on the display window of a Jewish-owned business reads: "Germans defend yourselves against Jewish atrocity propaganda.
