The realignment is less about globalism vs nationalism + multi-polar world and more about creating a tolerance for expansionist nationalism whereby we establish an agreement with major powers to divide up the world for open conquest, with Russia, China and the United States all operating in their respective "sphere of influence" I think its proponents imagine a world where Russia slowly reassembles territories it los…
Is Russia still a major power on the same scale as China or the US? I think the list would probably be more like US, China, and India. Russia is further behind on population, GDP, and other measures. And Russia is quickly entering a situation where they may just be controlled by China, like North Korea. I wouldn’t be surprised if China takes territory from Russia by force or at least negotiates for it. It’s possible…
That said, multipolar does not imply equal forces. It just means that one country doesn't make and enforce it's wishes all over the globe

Iraq and Afghanistan were both pretty rough for the people living in those countries, and like the war in Ukraine neither one could be justified by reference to the interests of the invader, much less any of its citizens.
I think you’re misunderstanding the analogy. The equivalent would be Guam or Puerto Rico rebelling against the United States in a protracted guerrilla conflict. The ethnic and cultural landscape in the Russian “republics” that didn’t gain independence after the fall of the Soviet union is a bit more complicated than the dynamics of US territories so I’m not sure how enlightening that analogy is though. If I were incl…

The president can't just say, "no more elections."
Back during my high school civics class I would believe that. But headlines such as "Trump signs order declaring only president and AG can interpret US law for executive branch" Make me wonder. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

At least among voters, there’s been a realignment over the last decade along the globalism/nationalism dividing line. The factions that favor globalism seem to also favor American military empire (to keep the trade routes safe or whatever, I don’t know). I don’t trust republicans in Congress to actually do it. But it could be a historic opportunity for democrats to call their bluff and support the cuts. A once in a c…
Russia invading a country that was legitimately starting a new chapter in becoming more democratic is what changed my mind on military budgets. However you want to frame globalism, nationalism, etc. I think it’s a perfectly rational reason to think, “huh, maybe it doesn’t just have to be pork barrel spending and to invade countries with oil…”

"The executive has enforced the decision, now let him make it."
Also, as a point, I wasnt saying there would NOT be elections, but if they were fair and not banana republic elections.

#58This shows how naive and unprepared the market and general public in the US is for blatant political corruption. This is a Thiel company. The administration will double down on Palantir because their cofounder and chair helped fund the current administration's election. Just like how they will benefit Musk's companies.
