Sure. You are paying for the cheapest option and sacrifice in range. 99% of car usage for me would be short trips <30km.
But if you use your car so little why would you spend 20k on one of the worst car experience of modern history ? You have no perf, no comfort, no status

It's a (sub)urban vehicle, those sound perfectly in line with its role. Do you judge vans and other utility vehicles on their 0-100 kph too?
The 1.0l 3cyl shitbox my dad bought for 12k euros new a few years back accelerates 50% faster and tops out at 170kmh so yes sorry but this is just unacceptable at that price, it's borderline unsafe 20k is a lot of money to put in a car for most people in Europe, you can buy a decent used ice car and enough gas for the next 50 years if you exclusively use your car in an urban environment

It's not expensive. Even budget, non-electric, cars such as ford fiesta cost about 18K nowadays.
If you look at it that way, yes, it’s not expensive. I would say that the Fiesta is 10k too expensive.

I'm not talking about 10k bikes, but also not supermarket bikes. I said complexity and materials. An iPhone is extremely complex but it's only so cheap because electronics scale extremely well, probably only software does better. Logically there should be more bikes than cars so the economy of scale should be in their favor. Bike maintenance isn't cheap either. Cars need to go through much more certification etc. The…

And I say that as a bike nerd.

Google tells me worldwide daily production of bikes is 300.000 and cars 100.000. (IMO It would really be sad if it was otherwise)

You can't go to 125km/h in an urban environment anyways, so what difference does it make?

It was marketed as a $35,000 car, and never sold as such. First editions were all more expensive (long range or dual motor, I forget which)
They did. Then they stopped. https://www.theverge.com/2020/11/16/21569524/tesla-model-3-3... The model 3 is still the 7th most sold car in 2022. Is a car company not allowed to raise prices? Like what standard are you holding tesla to? If they can sell a tesla for $42k, why sell it for $35k? Because Elon said so in 2015? That's ridiculous, its just not how markets or companies work. And they DID sell it for $35,000,…
Of course they can raise prices, but they can also lie about what price the car will be sold at in the future.
I later bought one for more than 35k.
There are no mental gymnastics. Musk said I could buy one at a specific price. Tesla would not sell it to me at that price.

But you usually aren't even driving in an urban environments. We have public transport for that. Three car really doesn't fit the market much

That's a 17-y.o. blog post. Musk has very much changed since then. And where does the Cybertruck fall into that master plan?
I'm sure he has, but are you saying that back then, he did not say he would stop making more affordable cars and more recently has has said he will stop?

#90Smaller Cars!1! OTOH that might be something if it means removing some tanks from the streets.
