The 200,000 figure isn't super meaningful unless they report average folds to failure and standard deviation.
From that article, it could be that they test to 200,000 folds because at that point 99.6% have failed, and the 50% failure rate might be at 100,000. Or 20,000. Or 190,000.
I don't think they're saying that 100% of phones will last to 200,000 folds. That would be a bold claim indeed.

I just spent $400 on a Ryzen 5650, 32GB RAM and 1TB NVMe. The screen sucks compared to my work MacBook (most do) but it’s faster and has more cores

I don't feel it's absurd.
For every product in the market there is a luxury version for people who's insensitive to price (hello LVHM!)... except for phones.
If you have all the money in the world the most expensive / exclusive phone you can get is an iPhone, Samsung Fold, or this Pixel Fold.

My interpretation of this article and the original press release is that the screens are supposed to last at least 200k folds.

#168I'd like foldables if they had two separate screens which acted as one, like a miniature laptop with an extra screen where the keyboard would be. The bendy display makes me think I'll wear it out pretty quickly. Pretty sure Microsoft did this for one of their recent devices.

It's "good" for everything on the go if you can handle the bulk of it folded. I've got an iPhone 14 pro and a Galaxy fold 3. It's roughly the size of an iPad mini when unfolded and is my favorite form factor. Small enough to carry around and enough real estate to RDP or SSH to get some actual work done if you need to.
I don't like carrying a bag with my MacBook if I can avoid it
