After wrestling with Google Ads for a year my admiration went to zero.
Google is a mainly running a scam these days with completely blackboxed systems that absolutely fleece the little guy when not doing outright criminal auction price manipulation.
I don't know why this hasn't gotten more media attention. Probably because of stockholm syndrome in the publishing sphere.
Yes they pioneered amazing things but where they earn their money now, is through a labyrinth of dark designs and obfuscated systems in the borderlands of legality.

When you search Google for “Deity starting with ”, you get a list of greek and roman gods. I got tired of that. So I asked GPT “what is a god that starts with and isn’t roman or greek”. I use ChatGPT precisely because I don't want to sift trhough search result links
My experience with chatgpt is that it is essentially a misinformation generator. It manages to bullshit with incredible confidence.
The most useful ChatGPT has been is the entertainment from all the videos and screencaps of people trying to break it or force it into extreme moral quandaries. Perhaps this will wear down AI and it will want nothing to do with us, thus saving humanity from the machines.

Damn that was painful to watch. They seem utterly disconnected from how people actually use their phones in real life. Finding elevators and atms with AR ? Is that the future google is selling ? #209Watched it. Seemed like a panic reaction to me. Like they need to get out something quickly out. Presented features look OK, but the event it self seemed like internes presenting what were they doing during the summer break. When it ended I was like "that's it?!?".

There have already been several stories on HN's front page the past few weeks about how ChatGPT is 'too woke' because they could not get it to talk like a 4chan poster.
