Dealing with China requires multilateral agreements to make sure companies and executives don't sell-out at the expense of the democratic open societies.

I know one shouldn't attribute to malice what can be attributed to incompetence, but in this case I think malice is where it's at. Western executives are not so dumb to think China will play nice with them. I've never met anybody whose spent more than 2 hours working with the Chinese who thinks they are remotely trustworthy.
