The issue is not if testing "amplifies" racial disparity. If it is the link in the chain which makes sure the disparity is carried on, especially to bigger amplifiers like college admission, then the decision to abandon it is clear.
You do realize that it is possible for it to be both right?
The question is whether or not it helps more than it hurts and no one seems to care that it helps the students from poorer areas distinguish themselves.
