A family member had a slow windows install. I checked the system utilization, suspecting paging. Guess what: 3/4 GB of the laptop were used by windows, leaving 1GB for all other applications. Apparently, deprecation via automatic updates is in, and it comes with candy crush. I installed Ubuntu 10 minutes later.
4 GB, especially if you don't have an SSD, isn't really enough for Windows 10. > I installed Ubuntu I did this once and regretted it. Except for OS itself, nothing quite worked reliably, and you're basically the only person who can help them if it has problems.
I agree that many won’t like Linux due to it being different, but it’s at least functional in this case. The web browser feels the same, at least, which is enough for casual users.
