Does it matter why? If I use VNC to do my work, it is absolutely impossible for me to switch to wayland, no matter how justified the reasons are.

That's because all three are similar, all three throw away some of the modular unix philosophy and replace it with a system that gives less power to the user.

I may be mistaken, but PulseAudio doesn't seem to fit that definition at all. Pulse allows for a lot more functionality and modularity than ALSA, the problem people had with it was that it was just really really buggy when it was pushed as the default in a lot of distros.

Can't say I like the attitude in this post. It seems to me that either he thinks that criticism on the software is criticism of the developer, or he spends too much time reading posts by people using the kind of language he's using.

There will always be people who'll criticize what you do, especially on the internet. You can't let it get to you.

And that punting is indicative of the problem. The reason the stacks we have are hot garbage is because they didn't have the luxury of punting on hard problems, and hard problems solved quickly make your stack hot garbage.

It does give you a garbage stack that solves problems though.

And there is nothing wrong with that in the slightest.

No hate, just a practical problem being solved. No one is forcing you to shift prematurely, although assistance is always welcome to fix your usecase.
