Excluding the UK and Ireland surely had political reasons (the UK now also has >400 cases) but it's hard to define Europe if you don't use either Schengen or EU (both of which the UK isn't a part of).

Actually, to a large extend it's fuel prices that cause these "low" speeds. Many cargo ships can be a lot faster if they have a reason that's worth the massive increase in fuel usage.

I suspect UK was left off because POTUS has resorts in Ireland and Scotland, and no where in Europe. There's nothing credible about UK being off the list while every surrounding country is on it.

Don't be a wanker. The US and U.K. rise or fall together. The two countries have an alliance unlike any other in the world. Neither turns it's back on the other. (And, by extension, Canada.)

They might lose landing rights. That's often enough reason to keep flying, even with empty planes.

The president says that clearly in his address. However the stuff about cargo being included is really odd. As if he was freestyling rather than reading. Other than that; I fail to see the point of this. There is already community spread in the US and the UK. The ban seems arbitrary and politicized.
