At that point, you can still authenticate with a Hackintosh anyway. But hey, would you look at that, the person is still _technically_ violating the rules!
Sorry, I refuse to be bullied into buying exorbitantly overpriced shit hardware.

Ethics and economics rarely agree. Slavery was also profitable for slave-owners. Fascism was also profitable for the willing corporate partners of the state. The argumentam ad pecuniam is valid only for the accountants, not for policy-makers.
Really slavery? What next comparing developing for a mobile platform to Nazism?

It is very much the role of the government to watch monopolies and act if necessary. Even if that means passing arbitrary restrictions on their business practices. Surely not all conceivable restrictions would be good, but some (like GDPR) are clearly net positives.
The question is whether or not Apple's control over iOS counts as a monopoly for this purpose -- do you look at iOS products as their own self-contained market, or do you look at them as "the mobile device market" that includes Android (and, at least on tablets, Windows and ChromeOS)? You can make an argument for that either way. (Personally, I wouldn't be heartbroken if Apple was forced to allow apps to be installed…
Looking at the overall phone market Apple has around 50% share in the US but only 20% globally. This is not high enough to constitute a monopoly especially when there are clearly competitors in the space.

This is an issue with a lot of companies and industries. It's getting really old, and I really hope we see it happen to actual senators so we can see some damn change over it. I'd love to read about how Paypal shutdown some senators account or campaign donation account or whatever, maybe then we will see congress start to turn tables. If you're going to discontinue service with a client then provide proper background…
Note that for certain financial services, perhaps including PayPal, they may not legally be allowed to explain why they closed your account.
Which is a distinction when it comes to possible ways to fix the problem.
I'm absolutely in favor of a "right to examine" law around algorithmic decisions that impact an individual.

So we're going to break the law instead, great defense for how Apple is evil when you are, in fact, pirating their software. Haha.....

The rest of us seem to know. Do you think he doesn’t know that 9to5mac published the information he provided to them?
I don't see anyone here that really knows anything about the situation. Just because a hundred people have speculations here doesn't make it fact; it's completely possible that he just failed to sign a Brazilian legal form or something.
We can see he has very likely violated the NDA.
By not mentioning this, and presenting himself as just another developer trying to make nice apps, we can see that he clearly has the capacity to be disingenuous. Most developers don’t reverse engineer Apple software and supply the results for publication.
We also know that if Apple froze people’s accounts for failing to sign a Brazilian legal form (or similar), it would affect a lot of people and we’d know it was a real possibility. But they don’t.
We don’t know anything with 100% certainty, but we easily have enough certainty to make it obvious that failing to mention his reverse engineering practice is a major red flag for his credibility.

This 100%. Government needs to get involved. Apple is clearly using its monopolistic power as shield against any kind of accountability. Devs have absolutely no recourse against this monopoly.
Not only are they not a monopoly, Apple doesn't even have the highest market share in the mobile space. (It's Samsung.)
I wonder what would happen if they kicked Uber of the platform.

You'll have significantly fewer problems with Intel graphics. The Linux drivers are all open-source and they're better integrated with the rest of the system. The only question is if Intel hardware is sufficient for your workload. NVIDIA makes great hardware, but the interface to it is complex and poorly documented. It's bad enough that Linus once stated that "NVIDIA has been the single worst company we have ever dea…
You and all the other replies are missing the whole point. The computer is a tool to get work done. I just want a computer that allows me to get my work done in the least amount of pain as possible. I don't see how Apple gets dethroned in a few years time if this is the state of the competitors. This computer in its current configuration worked fine with last year's Ubuntu distro. Next year I suspect this will be fix…
With respect, macOS "allows you to get your work done in the least amount of pain as possible" precisely because you are used to it and its relative quirks.
I have to use a Mac to occasionally maintain an iOS app. Here's my anecdotal experience: the keyboard shortcuts are entirely unintuitive, Xcode and the Apple store are downright painful to use (Apple's store literally doesn't accept screenshots generated by its own simulator). Software shipped on the machine is often outdated or just broken (trying to install .NET Core on a Mac and dealing with the ancient version of OpenSSL was not fun) and installing new software is a poor experience compared to using apt-get or yum.
I remember using Xcode and being prompted for some credentials during the publishing process - except it prompted more than once. And it was never clear whether I was getting the password right, or I'd typed it in wrong. It turns out windows shake horizontally when you get the password wrong, and if the window disappears and immediately re-appears again then you've got the password correct but you need to type it in again.
Recently I updated Xcode's build component and it decided to silently stop paying any notice to the CODE_SIGNING_REQUIRED environment variable.
Safari is just as poorly designed. Apple frequently enjoy "doing their own thing" which defies conventions set by every other platform - tab behaviour is broken out of the box and does not cycle through links. heights are ignored. On mobile, simple CSS properties such as background-attachment aren't supported.
Whenever I have to use a Mac I try to open a terminal as soon as I can and do all work inside one away from Finder and all the other GUI apps, because that's at least a relatively sane part of the system - but I couldn't ever get serious work done on one.
My point is that your anecdotal experiences are far from universal.
