There are a number of things were Chrome is worse, actually.
I do wish Web USB would be more supported in Firefox/safari etc. not sure why Chrome is so far in front there.

Agree in spirit, but in the case of Google/Alphabet there is somewhere for the buck to stop: AFAIK Larry + Sergei (+ maybe Eric?) control more than half of the equity in terms of voting power, so if they want too promote their principles at the expense of revenue growth they can do that regardless of the feelings of other shareholders. This is more speculative, but I think public markets don't really react adversely…

This is kind of FUD. I’ve been running my own mail server for over a year now, and my E-mails don’t magically disappear into some blacklist. Do you have to be careful when configuring your server? Yes. Can you get on a blacklist erroneously? Yes. Does not going with a hosted solution mean you cannot participate in E-mail? No way. Erm, no. Yes, DMARC, SPF, DKIM is needed, with static IP and a properly configured and authenticated mail system, but once that's OK, it's fine. I've been running my mail server for 10 years now, I got on blacklists 2 times: once due to a worm that got in through PHP, the other was a client's laptop that got a virus and used outlook express to send mail.
So how's that an argument that "it's fine"? Sounds like 2 times more than a regular person would want to deal with such issues within a decade, much less a small company. And it can take long to clear those things out if you're small fish...

If the company is asking you to do things that you find ethically untenable, you should leave, even in full knowledge that the company will find a way to do it anyway.

The best way to communicate "stop doing stupid shit" to google is not use their services/applications when they do stupid shit. Losing market share/customers is far more impactful than any (currently possible) fines.
It is still anti competitive, a browser that has special rules/code for the browser maker websites. Next they could give their own websites permissions that other websites don't have by default and that you could not remove(or need to find a convoluted way to remove), ex they could give google webpages permissions to access your webcam and microphone by default. This illegal things needs to be stopped it is not enoug…

That feels like whitewashing part of the blame that applies to engineers and product developers. We don't get to say "oh it's those pesky money people, how dare they", while drawing a salary from the same pockets.
But are there any moral corporations left? It feels like you can just keep running.

Bing is nowhere near "(Just as good as G)". If it was, a lot more people would have already switched. As of now, it's surprisingly behind Google in almost all but the most basic searches.
I use DuckDuckGo exclusively and don't feel like my life is worse for it. It really is good enough. And when you also factor in that you're not helping Google build a profile on you, it's better than Google.
