I've had the 7 for a few months and I am considering returning it. The phone is overall solid build quality but uninspired/boring. There are flaws that make this model a definite downgrade from previous models. I buy Apple products because of the thoughtful little details they pay attention to that you didn't know you wanted till you noticed it. Its a super high bar to be sure but its one that is part of their brand and the justification for the insane markup they charge. I would compare it to buying a bespoke suit or a quality time piece. You pay this kind of money because you are serious about having the best and want every little thing just right. The 7 is just kinda "meh" and thats not how I want to feel when I spend this kind of scratch.
The headphone jack is of course super annoying and I run into so many case where I wish I had it (for instance when trying to play a song back through some monitors for my friends). Just such a stupid and unnecessary move.
The deal breaker for me (and can anyone confirm if they are experiencing this??) is that the lightning connector just refuses to stay plugged in if I jostle the phone even slightly. Tried different cables, case on and off. Always the same. Its possible that I have a defective unit I guess.
At this point the only things keeping me are a) I need an iOS device for some work projects. b) I am concerned that I wont be able to move all my data over to another platform without massive pain.
