There is an equilibrium point beyond which mass protests and regulations pressure start. Every company is iterating and optimizing to find this equilibrium point, and then stays slightly behind it.

I happen to think today's social media companies are well past the equilibrium point.

For all it's failures the government and courts do a good job at mediating disputes in every other aspect of our lives, so why not this one too?

Many governments don't though. If you think about it modern U.S. is a pretty rare phenomenon throughout history and it's not guaranteed to continue forever.

Heh, yes. Ironic given the original topic was in part criticizing human mod decisions.

And I never ever thought after decades on public Internet forums that unsolicited advice was somehow disallowed or even generally frowned upon. This is sort of the social contract you sign up for when you post your stories in a comments section.

This reads to me like “GE made the EV1 in the 90s and it sucked, you’re so silly for thinking you can make electric cars work now”.

Back in those days, we didn't have cheap, powerful lithium-ion battery or hub motor.

There is no equivalent technological break through on network performance.

Thailand has laws about how one can talk about the king, right? Maybe there's no safe harbor provisions for websites, and a site this size is too small to fight, but big enough to attract attention?

This is a blanket ban of multiple countries. It's most likely something very unspecific and probably unrelated to local regulation situation. Also fanbyte seems to be an influencer marketing platform. If they wont serve influencers in these countries anyway, it makes sense for them to block all users from there to stop messing up their metrics or targeting or whatever.

This isn't really much value to most people. If you ask me the less influencer crap that exists in this world, the better.

Define “performance”?

Depending on how you define it I think it either isn’t the causal reason for the lack of success, or has actually 10xed. Batteries were more of an ease than a step function as well.

Twitter doesn't say that, it's, again, pretty clearly spelled out in the policy. The leap from 'our system thinks this looks like revenge porn' to 'you are accused of a crime' doesn't seem to be based on anything beyond umbrage and repetition. Neither of these things make it true, though.

It is a gigantic stretch, yes. If twitter thinks you posted 'confirmed revenge porn' they'd ban your account (as stated in their policy on the subject) and probably report you to law enforcement. If that happened over a cat game video then yes, that would be bad, disturbing, scary, you name it. This guy is upset that the free service he uses employs imperfect AI and it affected him personally. I agree we shouldn't be using AI for everything and we might even include humans after an AI makes a call just to verify the call. However, that has a cost and this guy isn't paying. I'd guess this guy wouldn't pay, because having to deal with occasional AI errors is part of the cost and he clearly doesn't want to pay…

I find it really funny so many people are up in arms against this perceived “verbal abuse”. The “you” he filled out in the appeal form clearly refers to Twitter as a platform. Maybe it would be clearer if English actually distinguished between the plural form and the singular form of “you”, like in various other languages? Perceiving this as a personal insult is exactly a “pride” issue of the Twitter employee and some of the commentators here, not the author.
