Well, you can change that in a way. Just use the money you would otherwise pay Adobe and fund the feature you need. You can easily contact the developers, there's a list of them here https://git.gnome.org/browse/gimp/tree/AUTHORS ; By browsing the source code, you can also find their emails.

Yeah, that's pretty clearly the wrong page for buying photoshop. But I quickly found the right one by going to Products > Creative Suite 6 > Buy CS6 > Buy Photoshop CS6. The real problem is finding it if you don't know that it's part of Creative Suite 6.

Except CS6 is not the latest version of Photoshop. The equivalent would be a car lot refusing to sell new cars, only to lease them.

I think Adobe CC is an example of useless cloud service. In fact I think the only reason Adobe insist on providing a cloud service is to avoid piracy.

Love pixelmator - use it every single day and would never, ever consider using Photoshop for the types of image manipulation/touch up that I do.

Photoshop is really for the professional image editor - I can't believe that the average consumer really can't get by with pixelmator/acorn.

You know what Google Maps needs? Offline downloadable map functionality. They had that feature, then removed it, then put it back... now I honestly don't know where it's at. I second this: Pixelmator is great. But most heavy Photoshop users won't leave Photoshop unless dragged away. It's all they know. Sure they'll kick, scream, bitch. But suggest something like Pixelmator you get excuses like "But Pixelmator doesn't have [insert obscure filter that they've only used once in their life]".

In the end, they'll still stay on Adobe's CC.

Sadly Gimp doesn't really work. I tried to use it but always were differences when showing the psd. (Missing effects, bad colored layers, etc. )

It's mostly a question of storage.

Z=18 is rarely used, so for ZYou could try vector data which would be smaller, but then you have to display it, which can be computationally expensive if you want it to look pretty, and you'd lose the snappiness you're seeking.
