So what you're basically attempting is the Discourse equivalent of a StackOverflow "This question is offtopic" thread-close. Good job. What you're attempting is amateur anger management. It doesn't work like that. Your approach is almost classically designed to escalate tensions, not defuse them.
You're only seeing the brief, public acknowledgement that I wouldn't participate despite being called out with an @ reply.
