Aren't "not rich" and "poor" very different things?

Both are relative terms so they can be the same or different depending on who defines them. Nearly everyone that works in the US is rich by worldwide standards, so it's not clear that a lack of billionaires for example would make things better. Sans Amazon, Apple or Google, would the US be better off? I'm not convinced.

You can bet that every major company CEO on the planet is creaming his jeans at the thought of AI doing every task (except their own) that they currently pay humans to do. Their ideal end state is that the company is themself, thousands of AIs and thousands of robots, zero payroll. Every one of them is dreaming of this.

From what I've seen of CEO's, they can be the first ones replaced.

They're inhuman(e). They hallucinate, and have devoured volumes of Harvard Business Review.

By which reason can they cap the knowledge workers displacement at 39.7% in the extreme case? Maybe they want to reason that without robots its impossible to replace the last 22% but even specialised devices would be enough in the worst case.

I think in the worst case knowledge work will go to the capital rich 1% as legal representative for the companies and their shareholders.

And with robotics all 99% of the workforce could be gone. Because AI does not need to be perfect it only needs to be cheaper and good enough.

Most people's definition of rich is "one dollar more than I have". Just look at laptop class's hate on the 1 percenters - which actually includes them.

What is "laptop class"?

Information workers. Anyone whose whole job can be done from a laptop... They're among the most privileged workers in the world.
