The problem is that most of the annoying parts of daily life are pretty personal and don't have clear APIs. Like, I need to coördinate with my building manager, a contractor and that contractor's insurance agency about their policy. A personal assistant would be great for this (it's all over email.)

But it's pretty niche and one-off for me. How do you market that? There are 20 of these random things per year, but no single one of them is likely to resonate generally.

yes, it was not easy to mentally give that access, but then I heard from friends how much work was put in into securing it and separating LLM/agents from the API tokens access (also saw this detailed blog post from the lead developer - https://research.meta.ai/blog/security-and-safety-for-ai-age...), plus I had the pressure to get the problem resolved - so I decided to risk and try it out.

Eventually, though, Muse Confidential VM is an even more locked-in option coming, per that blog post...

Do you mean in terms of competence at resisting breaches? I trust Meta’s security team a lot more than anyone else’s in that respect.

They are big enough and pay well to have a competent team. Compared with momandpop.com (willing but too small) or equifax (big but unwilling) and given the kind of data they are guarding, they’re probably the best in the business.

I'll be interested to see what access it gives you to Meta products. Grok Bot doesn't have direct access to Twitter like Grok on x.com does, for no good reason, but it does have an API plugin which gives you free $20 credit if you install it. When these companies want to lock you into their platforms it seems kinda dumb to not give their own products access to their own products.

The walled garden is basically their entire moat. If you have access to that, you can do things like, "Every hour, write all updates in chronological order to a file $HERE", then you have an API feed. You integrate that into your own homespun app, then you never see their ads. They hate that.

All of Meta's products have to be user-hostile, because the first thing you want is interop and that kills their monetization.

Only for about a week. Then they saw sense and started rolling it out to the peasants too. I use it every day now, having it look a few times a day for glitched pricing deals and hunting down useful directories to list my projects in.

At least it wasn't booking a flight or restaurant reservation.

I think of my mom who doesn't care and doesn't understand the difference between google AI Overview vs actual google search results. "I looked it up" - she doesn't care what tool she is using she just wants answers to how long bake pork or the best throw pillows to buy or whatever else she is looking up. She's mostly using google AI tools because it's easy and free and on her landing page.

“Is that just what AI says?”

‘No, it’s from $majorAmericanCorporation.’ look at screen, see $majorAmericanCorporation name in a pill as citation you can click on within the Google AI Overview

I use claude all day every day, and sometimes codex, and I still don't change models. I guess I'm more interested in accomplishing the thing than in experimenting with a dozen ways of accomplishing the same thing.
