There was a lot of hype about the SU7. They killed it with pre-orders. But their target for the year at 550K isn't gonna happen as they're sold about a 180k so far this year.

Due to lack of demand or lack of production capacity?

Neither. The SU7 originally came out in 2024, but word got out that it would get a refresh this year. The updated version officially launched on March 19. Shortly after, Xiaomi unveiled its new YU7 SUV, prompting some potential buyers to reconsider.

I don't want buy American cars either. European, Korean or Japanese are the way to go.

Odd to list things in reverse order.

I'm guessing Chick-Fil-A?

Can't be them because they franchise. My guess is In-N-Out

Common misconception. They don't franchise in the sense everyone normally means it. They call "managing the store" a franchise.

If you "franchise" a CFA, you don't own the store, you don't own the land, they severely control your income, you are required to physically work at the store (in other words, they control you as a laborer), and you can't re-sell the franchise since you don't own it. You have no equity. They refer to you as an operator.

When you leave the business, CFA picks someone else to give it to. You get paid nothing because you never owned it.

They're also very weird in picking their operators. I can't speak for every CFA, but where I live all the operators are white evangelical Christians. This is probably a side-effect of CFA's policy of not letting anyone who has debt be an operator, and buying everything without financing is a big thing in the evangelical Christian community thanks to Dave Ramsey.

> I'm willing to pay double the cost of a MacBook Pro for anything that can run Linux, similar performance to M5, have a decent battery, good touchpad, be silent, have a good display, be light and portable. This is Zenbook A16 right now, with recent patches posted to Linux ARM mailing list that support it in full.

>> good touchpad, be silent > This is Zenbook A16 right now, with recent patches posted to Linux ARM mailing list that support it in full. Including those two items I emphasised? This is usually where Apple's competition fail, mostly because they don't even consider it.

To add to my other post: just today I saw a report on Zenbooks good touchpad quality from a previous M2 Pro user. And they also specifically cared about it.

Apparently some people think republicans were the only presidents elected in the last 25+ years? Even senile Joe Biden was more competent than the current malicious moron in power.

Yet he was still a moron

It is the same Xiaomi which announced 300 000 SU7 vehicles sold in a day and 6 months later reported they are struggling to hit their sales targets? Just don’t believe anything a Chinese company say, divide it by at least 2. I have nothing against China, this is a cultural thing which you should be aware reading anything coming from the country.

Xiaomi EVs sales growing ~15% YoY, they just likely to miss their wildly ambitious ~33% YoY target. Or they might get close, they're 80% of target for H1, but PRC sells more cars in H2 (no Q1 new years, Q3+Q4 big sales). But it's also the same xiaomi and sends gold samples and hacks gaming benchmarks, but IRL an off the shelf model is merely 80% better instead of 100%. It's no different than Samsung, Apple, Nvidia cu…

IDK how trustworthy it is: Xiaomi SU7 finished dead last in the 2025 Q1 quality rating among large BEV sedans

I really like how the car looks. But this and famous crash on track due to brakes issue…
