As a resident of Taiwan, would you say the average person there is comfortable obeying a strong central government, whoever that currently is? As an American, I found the deference to authority very strange.

The Supreme Court ruled, in 1943, that it is unconstitutional to compel students to salute the flag and recite the Pledge of Allegiance.
