I disagree. They're renting out GPUs to other providers because they realize it's a long game that they're in a better position to win because they control infrastructure as well as hardware. We'll have to wait and see I guess.

Long game - lol. xAI lost/never gained traction. The talent all left, so Musk is trying to recoup some of the enormous investment in hardware.

This seems more likely to me, but we'll see I guess.

Google makes money hand over fist and they don’t have enough things to spend it on. AI is a natural fit for them to burn all their profits into. Gemini’s integration is, I think, absolutely awesome - it’s completely changing the way I interact with the concept of googling and finding answers, and is free of sign ups or purposeful interactions with the likes of ChatGPT or Claude where you know you’re AI-ing. So your s…

Not really sure which capitalists you’d prefer who are non-disgusting or who don’t fund abomination of one flavour or another. But you’re right.

You do realize that passive funds have more money than active funds today, right? https://finance.yahoo.com/news/passive-etfs-hit-tipping-poin... Sometime last year, passive funds overtook active funds.

Re-read what I wrote.

Reread what I wrote.

More money is in passive now than active. On a dollar basis, there are fewer votes purchased dollar for dollar.

Even then, active funds don't always offer proxy vote services so I'm not sure wtf active has to do with my original point: that investors today don't seem to give a rats ass about the vote.

Could you explain to me how an investor owning SPY shares gets to control the proxy vote? Oh, don't worry. I already know the answer. I'm asking if YOU can tell me the answer.

that what i mean. where do all those votes go? someone controls them. and those interests are bought and paid for

In practice?

To Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg. Who have crafted companies who have virtually no voting rights but get purchased up by the masses through passive index funds.

Who do you pay rent to in space? Space is free; you don't even pay property taxes. Transportation costs are not but that's the whole reason you invest into (at the time) a space transportation company.

You can't just get something to space and then leave it there for free. Any maintenance is way more expensive than a data center on the ground (be it via extra trips or extra R&D for autonomous operating).

You can't leave anything on the ground for free either.

Like what is your argument? A new technology is expensive? That's why you invest into bringing the costs down.

Google invested into balloons to share internet (Loom). Which they eventually gave up on but the correct decision is to try new things and then evaluate their future success. Not just armchair decide that change is scary.

I'm not saying space data centers should happen tomorrow but just that ruling them out completely for YouTube is foolish. Like Sports often send the video feed through space back to earth to be processed. You can skip a step there by just sending it to space, processing it there, and then send it back down to subscribers.

Remember this was also when SpaceX was actually about space, instead of mostly AI and Twitter. Long-term shareholders that were sold on the space, have to be thinking about how to get out once their lockups expire.

Not just that, but private investors were sold shares that all had the same voting rights. Since just before the IPO SpaceX now has dual class shares, Elon and a few insiders have class-B shares with 10x the voting power, while everybody else (including private investors) have class-A shares with 1x the voting power

SpaceX has had dual class shares long before the IPO.

Please stop with the disinformation

SpaceX has had multiple share classes the entire time, what are you talking about? pre-IPO there was a third Class C with no voting rights at all, these got converted to Class A

Do you have any source on this? That doesn’t match what I can find

This is well known stuff.

Look for articles about SpaceX ownership pre 2024

Here's an article from 2023

It's worth asking you where you conceived this claim and what happens with the similar ones

Well, okay, he can do lots of illegal stuff that's going to get punished in the courts. There's no way something like that would survive SEC scrutiny, I don't care what state you're in.

The SEC his buddy trump gutted?

Or not.

They're waiting for OpenAI and Anthropic's bubble to burst most likely and then they can acquire that talent for a song.
