What do you mean by no? Can you read their minds? Their reputation suggests that, yes, they’ll likely block something else.

Your words betray your prejudice, nothing more.

There's a thing called reputation. It has nothing to do with prejudice.

The problem with slippery slopes is that you never stop midway.

Banning any form of legal, libre software, shows that you are not floss friendly and I do not want to host my code with organizations like yours. I dropped sourcehut when they banned cryptocurrency software and today I drop you.

Looks like I'm going back to self-hosting and accepting patches via email.

I do not think you get the point. Yes, human rights should apply to anybody, including war criminals. That is what makes them HUMAN rights. Universal freedoms and neutrality should apply universally, including to waste-of-time-and-resources AI slop. That is what makes them UNIVERSAL and NEUTRAL. > It is like saying Gmail shouldn't delete spam, but instead, should apply a limit of 1 message per day per destination per…

Hosting your code on a free server is not a universal right. It is a privilege.

And I never claimed that it was. Stop attacking that strawman.

My point is: Codeberg is not a neutral and free git forge. I wish that it was.

What they are doing is completely within their legal and moral rights. I just disagree with it.

> You think Stallman and Torvalds did what they did because they were neutral? Is that a joke? Both have made it abundantly clear that yes, this is their stance. Let me quote literally the FIRST freedom RMS put into writing: > The freedom to run the program as you wish, for any purpose. This is explicitly free and neutral. "for any purpose", no restrictions. Linus endorsed this stance by licensing the kernel under GP…

Is Linux neutral against proprietary forks?

Read the comment again. I address this directly.

Keeping up with this stuff is for people who define their identity through virtue signalling and whatever personality trait they have decided to make the problem of everyone around them. Let them have their little corner of the internet and just stay away. There's plenty of alternatives run by people who don't feel the need to bring their personal baggage into a cooperative environment.

What are these plentiful alternatives? SourceHut also comes with “personal baggage”.

ssh server git init --bare repo.git && git clone server:repo.git

Needs to be a member of parent #codeberg, which is invite only. I wonder if they gated the room after public backlash?

By "public" you mean "people with no repositories on codeberg"?

They don’t pay tax, right? Correct me if I’m wrong. It’s definitely a different (and public) conversation when things are claimed done for the public benefit and thus exempt from tax. At least in the US tax-exempt status carries obligations.

Just because the EFF is tax exmept doesn't mean they have to publish my Sonic the Hedgehog porn on their website

Did they claim to be neutral and free?

Not sure why this is down voted. You cannot support FOSS and then get mad when people use those freedoms to create a service that matches their ideas and philosophies.

I'm not mad that they have a fork of some FOSS software that they use. I'm upset that they're actively trying to take away other people's freedom under the banner of a non-profit whose mission is to support FOSS software projects. That's worse than just some random group lying loudly about its intentions. They're getting tax benefits that probably should be yanked unless they change their charter. They also accepted…

I didn't know that providing a service to some people but not others was taking away freedom.
