If a user clicks on one ad, OpenAI makes a tiny bit of money. If a user clicks on 10 ads, OpenAI makes 10x the money. This incentive is inevitably going to lead to ad supported LLM's not answering questions properly the first time so more ads served. I am guessing in voice mode they will also have voice ads.

I imagine the kind of advertising you're talking about is obtained by providing that documentation and a curated training dataset to the providers. Maybe even funding some training time. If other subscription services are anything to go by, I expect that business subscriptions will be free of ads. Personal subs will initially be free of ads, but ads will slowly be added, starting with the cheapest subscription and working their way up.
