Wait? They previously allowed everybody and their mother to request the information? Limiting it to ‘citizens of the european union’ seems eminently reasonable.

What about watchdog groups?

They will not be allowed to file requests.

Lol, do you seriously think the 'alternative' would be any more progressive when it comes to freedom of information (or government transparency in general) once they'd be in power?

It won’t but how else does general public signal that they do not want whatever mainstream parties are offering. Any proposals? Democracy isn’t working as intended. Autocracy is unacceptable. So what now?

They could vote for any other non-mainstream party? Even FDP (libertarians) would be a better choice than AfD.

Buddy, I am just on HN and FetLife. Maybe get rid of your own delusions before judging strangers on their imagined social media bias. > Most AfD members share your sentiment. Maybe you should qquestion this feeling. I heard they also drink water. Lot's to think about.

How do you know about German news if you don't read in social media? Maybe judge your media consumption. Your thinking is very emotional and very close to Afd members. Some kinky members are lost anyway politically.

One couldn't possibly learn German news from German news. You have to learn it from social media instead.

True:

>Despite well-documented violations of international law violations in Gaza, Germany continues to authorize arms exports to Israel.

Also, Germany will not arrest Bibi, even if the ICC orders his arrest. That's how you know Germany is not behind the ICC and does not respect an international court unless it benefits them. This perfectly represents the German government's understanding of what a free, law-abiding, and open democracy should be, and it is directly reflected in the EU.

FDP is unreliable. Twice they walked away from governance responsibility. Olaf Schulz Government fell down because of them. Moreover they don’t have any agenda worth voting.

Greens could be a choice because they had an effective leader in Haebeck and good governance story in a state. But they need to get practical and stop opposing nuclear.

Die Linke is coming up with all sorts of right messages for middle-class but they have a past.

Honestly there is no party which has correctly identified nation’s problems and proposed solutions to public. At best all offer a small increment.

AfD on the other hand, while offering nothing good, has a strong emotive appeal that works on older people, who are major voter base and are unhappy that the society around them is filling with unfamiliar faces or that their pension is lower than social benefits received by refugees. For other voters, voting for AfD is as I said earlier, is just a protest signal.

The problem is economic pie is shrinking because of incompetent leadership in all spheres. The decline is structural and no one has any decent ideas on how to fix it, forget selling the fix to public. The country is raising debt at higher interests that is not being deployed into areas that will generate future returns.

So what you're saying is that AfD is basically the same as all the other parties. Like, you just identified that Die Linke offers nothing good and has a strong emotive appeal to the middle class, but you didn't say it in those words, you said those words about AfD instead. You said Green has emotiove appeal but offers nothing good but is bad because they oppose nuclear, well that is better than AfD which offers nothing good but has emotive appeal but is bad because they oppose people being allowed to exist. So what is the actual difference?

Unfortunately, not all data held by an organisation is generated and held in a publishable format. The data in this example is created incidentally within email chains as part of a broader process. It's really not cost effective to publish real-time data that's been requested by these firms. So in principle, I agree that where there is substantial data held that the public are interested in, it should be published. H…

Could those email chains be turned into a mailing list available by default, like lkml.org ? Then nothing would need to be done to make it "cost effective to publish".

Thanks for your suggestion, but unfortunately not. The email chains containing this data could never be published without significant redaction as they centre around services provided to members of the public and contain their personal information. Publishing any of that would result in a breach of GDPR and litigation

AfD is not the same as other parties. It is a far-far worse thing. Other parties are simply incompetent at both execution and selling, so it leads to inordinate delays when we need fast action.

But whatever their themes we probably want those ideas - renewables, environmental concerns, cost-of-living, worker equality etc. - just with an appropriate dose and at appropriate time. My sphere is too limited to know answers to those questions. But I can see that Greens (esp Habeck) wasted a huge amount of hard-won political capital rooting for heat pumps or on sticking caps with bottles, when we were facing catastrophic effects of a European war.

AfD is selling hatred and once that becomes mainstream, it will take decades before it could be rooted out, if at all. Last time it took a world war and still some of it remained, AfD does not have any ideas on fixing any of the problems.

Heck, no political party has even correctly identified the issues, forget fixing them. Their attitude is to displease existing voter base as little as possible, change as little, which from a politicians perspective is understandable. But from a nations perspective we are losing precious time and squandering our resources.
