You can deactivate it, but has to be on every car start. It's so annoying having to tur off all that crap every single trip. Sometimes i forget the lane assist ON and get nudged randomly at high speeds, so so scary.

Maybe you'll be able to buy a box to plug into the CAN bus and simulate pressing the button to deactivate it. Sorta like the auto-stop eliminator for that horrid feature (which saves less than 5 gallons of gas per year in my dad's Subaru - thankfully mine is one year too old for that).

No, the regulation requires that the system can be turned off or just the warnings; however the manufacturer wants to do it.

My Hyundai likes to auto slam on the brakes when cars in front of me turn off the road, even when I definitely won't hit them. It's almost caused collisions with cars behind me.

My point was the speech should say "jam" (in Japanese) and it will be better than a beep and an the text "jam" (in Japanese) is better than an icon.

My old truck had a lever that had 3 positions: COOL HEAT DEFROST. Modern cars have all these idiotic icons and I can never figure out how to defrost.

Reading all the comments here about how awful new cars are really reinforces my choice to buy a 2016 Nissan Micra as my first (and currently only) car.

It is capable of beeping, but only does it if I leave the handbrake up or start driving without a seatbelt.

I don't have modern comforts like a backup camera, cruise control, or those fancy motorized seats some cars have. But it does it's job. I push on the go pedal and it goes, I push on the stop pedal and it stops.

I also recently installed an Android Auto capable head unit, so I don't need to illegally interact with my phone to navigate places.

Does soaking the beeper with water trigger a modification clause? Annoying alarms trigger driver distresss which has equally negative effect on attention while driving. I don't drive/don't have a car, but it drives me mad when I take an Uber, I go into the back seat and put my backpack beside me and the car keeps beeping because of it (I obviously put my seatbelt on). For some time I didn't understand what was that beeping until a driver told me, now when I hear it I know to put the seatbelt in my backpack seat, and remove it when I get off the car.
