Classically, the Devil follows the djinn trope. It’s weird that Jesus is slowly being cast into that same role.

Yes you, presumably someone who is not a christian and has never read the bible, know better than billions of christians and the millions of people who've actually read the bible. I'm not religious, but this is a bad take.
Even today most Christians haven’t read the whole thing. I’m not Christian in large part because I did. And it’s almost all batshit.

I don’t know about you, but I got kicked out of church (well, asked to leave and not come back) after I read the Bible and started to, uh, ask questions. And compare what the pastor was saying vs ‘the word of god’. I personally am 100% sure Jesus would be dead pretty quick if he came back - a lot faster than before, and I doubt it would take 30 pieces of silver either!

Jesus was a socialist? Was that before or after he used supernatural powers to increase the quantity of food instantly? Easy to be a "socialist" in such cases, but let's not pretend that there's any serious economic theorizing being done when people say this about Jesus. It's usually just a convenience for people looking to grift or instigate. lmao.

No, the bad actions are still happening today. Maybe the original action (the sexual abuse) happened 40 years ago. But he continued to lie about it until recently and pushed other people to lie on his behalf. This isn't 40 years ago, this is still very recently. This is still wrong and was a wrong that was ongoing. Had he actually been honest about these things and properly served whatever justice is right for these…
> But he continued to lie about it until recently From what I've heard, he has disclosed actions years, possibly decades, ago but did not mention that involvement of a minor. I expect this is because a lawyer, or possibly anyone with a quarter of a brain, gave the same advice to him as they would any other human - shut your mouth. Is that a wrong? > And now he's suing the church for millions of dollars for some retir…
And while it might be sound legal advice to shut your mouth, it's not necessarily the moral thing to do.
And yes, I think it's wrong pastors are paid millions of dollars, and that he's suing to try and continue the gravy train. And its asinine to compare counts of attendees to a church as the number of employees at a company. People attending a church aren't employees. And comparing the mission to the church to a for profit enterprise is once again just clearly missing the point.
If the person leading the congregation is making significantly more than the poorest of the congregation there's a real problem.
Your continued comments just further exemplify the things I find wrong in the modern Christian church.

People call Jesus a socialist because of the numerous times he commanded people to distribute their wealth to the poor and needy, help the sick, forgive debts and treat immigrants with respect and dignity. No one is literally claiming that Jesus was espousing some kind of proto-Marxist economic theory so much as pointing out that in the context of modern (specifically American) political discourse, Jesus would be con…

“ That's...how you communicate with humans.” Right. Why would the omnipotent creator of the universe communicate the same way I do?
Why do we sometimes bend down to look at a dog or child? To look them in the eye, at their level.

“Socialist Jesus” is kind of a meme (or, maybe a blowback meme on Capitalist Jesus). But, he was apparently pretty into taking care of the poor, right?
The meme relies on assuming Socialism==being a good person. This is obviously not the case, as any economic structure is more complex than just being a chill dude, and the bible has a more complex view of morality than just "being nice to thy neighbor".

Catholics don't believe that you have to be Catholic to go to heaven. In fact, believing that you do is explicitly condemned as a heresy (Feeneyism).
