Ignoring an explicit law and then getting punished (and not even all that badly) is not at all germane to the subject, which is insecurity about rules that may start existing soon or are undocumented. It was _just_ an example of their intolerance having a real world effect.

That's why I _specifically_ made a statement about people missing my point, because I knew someone would, because people _always_ do when it comes to imagining how they would feel if they were persecuted like that.

The point _isn't_ that someone can go there and "break the law". The point _is_ that there was a claim that they are tolerant and I refute that claim by saying that they are not.

This is an ignorant statement to make. Most of East & Southeast Asia aren't religious extremists. Malaysia and Indonesia are exceptions rather than the rule. It's clear you're making statements about a large swarth of the region you have no clue about.

Indonesia regularly passes laws barring religious minorities from practicing.

China of course highly regulates religion and is in no way 'free' in that regard.

America imports GPUs from Singapore? I don't think Singapore is more than a drop in the bucket of America's GPU imports. America imports them from Taiwan. There are plenty of other comments citing Nvidia statements, so I don't think I need to address this. Certainly the tendency for people here to reach for the most conspiratorial theories is bizarre to me.

"Bill to" vs "ship to," as Nvidia claims, doesn't explain why Singapore's share of revenue increased from 9% to 22% in two years, unless you think that American multinational companies didn't bill to Singapore until two years ago, and suddenly all switched — which there is no evidence for. Coincidentally, "two years ago" lines up with when the Hopper chip ban went into effect. That's obviously sketchy, which is why people are suspicious.
