#113I use Element X every day. On the phone it's very buggy and doesn't get push notification for the latest messages sometimes.
what OS, build, and can you please link me to GH issues so i can chase them? We're not aware of any push problems.

But it has only happened a few times for me. I have not created any github issues. I only have 1 friend on matrix so I don't get that many messages :)
But each time I open the app, the syncing is kinda slow, much slower than on the computer in my experience. Isn't it possible to enable fetching in the background?

I mean, I'm not asking you to help me, I was just curious whether there was any more resources dedicated to the UI/UX of that particular view. If the answer is "no, and we feel the view is fine", then just say that. I might not agree with your choices but it's not going to stop me using the app. ;P
I'm unlikely to stop and annotate a bunch of screenshots and put them on GitHub as I've other things to do with my time. The older I get, the more protective I am of my free time... as much as it sucks from an OSS perspective.

You mean in Element X itself? I have no accessibility features enabled on my devices, so I doubt it's an OS-level control in the way.

hah, sorry - i was trying to find out what build of EX you were on, not Android :D
That said, from these symptoms, it really sounds like you are on an older build of the app - and probably using the old sliding sync proxy rather than native sync implementation which has now landed in Synapse. The new builds also fetch in the background (whenever you get a push).
Please upgrade, try again, and failing that, file bugs on github.com/element-hq/element-x-android!

browsing rooms is deliberately not implemented in Element X yet; it's intended more as an imessage/whatsapp style messenger - plus exposing the matrix.org room directory make appstore review & age-rating etc much more complicated.
FOSDEM is upon us, and finding the right room to follow the chat is going to be much harder with Element X. Ditto for LPC which just ended. It's OK, Element for Android is still here, but I hope you'll have a solution for small servers with a controlled number of room — but that would still need browsing on mobile.

It's more "no, and i can't understand the spacing problems which you're describing, and i'm wondering if you're on a strange aspect ratio screen or have zoomed the dynamictype lots or are RTL language or some other edge case that we haven't considered, so i'd like to see a screenshot to understand what you're seeing and if we're on the same page".

Huh. this really sounds like Button Shapes in iOS (https://osxdaily.com/2014/06/25/enable-button-shapes-ios/) or similar - and it getting confused by the fancy half-rust-half-SwiftUI rich text editor that EX has.

We ran Element for our dev team for 6 months and had to give up because frequently a person would just not be able to decrypt a message, warnings would appear but there was no way to solve this. We have done a huge amount of work on fixing E2EE issues - when running latest matrix-rust-sdk clients (e.g. Element X) and matrix-js-sdk using matrix-rust-sdk-crypto (e.g. Element Web/Desktop), "unable to decrypt" bugs should be unheard of. The UX for E2EE is full of trip mines that will easily lose your encryption key. You need to be designing a product around people who don't read and just want a slack/discord like format. The amount of times i've lost my decryption keys or my friends have lost my decryption keys because they don't religiously backup their keys is such a dramatic time sync..

i can't believe anyone would pay money for their product. It's alpha grade software through and through. Once a large enough company loses enough data through a encryption miss-step or federation issue they're going to pivot off of this product and move on.
