Why is researchers in scare quotes? I just checked, both authors have doctorates and have published papers in this field of study.

Women exploitinging their sexuality to entice men - even if it has nothing to do with the subject at hand? A story as old as human history... Of course, not all women do it, and not all men fall for it. Nonetheless, it happens literally everywhere.
I think that what you omit is important to add: most viewers if virtually almost all of them are young males. So female streamers, like every streamer, leverage what the viewers are more likely to fall for, in this case, sexualization.
Sure, sex sells, but no one is forcing them to stream themselves in bikinis for money. It's time to stop blaming every societary ill on men and their biology. In a consensual monetary transaction, there are always two parties.
Where is the "uncovering" in this? It's not even an open secret, it's just known reality.
