I remember months (years?) ago when it was discovered wacom tablet drivers did the same on MacOS; well, not on linux.

Telemetry by default should be illegal. They should be required to obtain owner permission.

Intel is suffering financially. This is the phase in which they, regretfully, cross all ethical boundaries for the sake of the company's bottom line.

Then you will not be able to access some of the features that is advertised for the hardware you bought (like shadowplay).
It's a bit worrying that it already requires this though, the whole thing is as close as it can be to DRM without obviously being DRM. And Nvidia is known to DRM their GPUs a lot.
