As a fan of KenM, Nathan Fielder, and Sasha Baron Cohen, I say well done! HOW did you come up with this? Genius! The bit about getting the cartel to sign your EULA [1] was ::chefs kiss::

(Posting this only as you seem to have decided to low-key reveal the ruse)

You’re thinking of cartel members like they’re VCs. They’re gangsters. They “assert control” over everything and everyone, that’s what gangsters do and they’re literally the worst ones around. There is no way you can do anything with them that will not put yourself and your family in danger

One could argue that cartel members and VCs do share some qualities. But again, your point is well taken and you may very well be right. I won't move forward if there isn't a safe, legal path to do so. I appreciate your feedback.

Are you prepared to walk around with a gun on your person at all times and a cyanide tooth to avoid more regrettable death?

In my limited experience with “Cartels”… there are two kinds of people: ruthless and rational; ruthless and irrational. If they are anywhere near the top, you can bet they are the first type. It seems you want to deal with multiple cartels at the same time. This is suicide. If you do it anyway, treat them all equally, show no favoritism, never compare them. Think of it as having a bunch of aunt/uncles who always tell…

> but they’re responsible for execution

Literally. They also seem to be very much aware that they're responsible for execution and the OP may find out first hand.

Between the above comment, and this one: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=36737819 I am now fully confident this is satire. Well played. 20/10. You had me going for longer than I care to admit. Best HN troll I've seen.

I intentionally tried to keep it light / humorous to have plausible deniability. "I'm sorry your honor. This was just an elaborate joke that got out of hand."

Given that this is now obviously a joke, maybe dang should flag the thread again, given that I don't think HN is meant for such kinds of trolls.

VCs can destroy your career and finances in safe/legal ways. Cartels don't operate in safe/legal ways. Cartel members snitch on you, can kill you or family members. Cartel members always care about their safety first, not your safety; that means, they can do whatever they want. Just go to https://www.borderlandbeat.com for all narco news. The kind of naïveté you displayed in this thread shows that you will end up com…

Getting catfished by the law and convicted and imprisoned would probably be preferable to whatever the cartels would have in store too.

Don't stress about the cartel. You'll be arrested long before you ever get into contact with them. Instead, here a few things to help minimize the number of years you'll spend in prison away from your daughter and the rest of your family. You mentioned meeting with the DEA in another comment. Bring a lawyer when you go. You'll have to call around to find one who will agree to put you in jeopardy of criminal prosecuti…

I appreciate your comment, but it feels a bit cynical to be more afraid of federal agents than drug cartels. Then again, I don't have much experience with either, so maybe I'm being naive. That was partially why I was asking how to find a lawyer who deals with situations like this.

You should not be more afraid of federal agents than drug cartels. But you should be very afraid of both.

This is complete nonsense. If you don’t want to profit from this there is no incentive to meet anyone. Post the idea, publicize it, and hope they adopt it.

If you are sincere, I have difficulty understanding how you have functioned in society for apparently decades. My guess is that you have figured out that being laughably wrong on the internet is a great way to drive traffic. In which case thanks for wasting everyone’s time. But there’s no obvious hook here other than HN karma?

If not, then I am concerned you are literally, unironically, having a mental breakdown of some kind. Mania perhaps. If you still think your idea is worthwhile, maybe you should ask someone you trust if your behavior has been off lately and get checked out by a doctor.

"lot of deaths over the last few years from fentanyl in pot." Can you share a case where this has been confirmed? There was some hysteria in Connecticut last year, but my understanding is that this has never actually happened. I'd love to see a pointer to a coroner's report on a case of accidental fentanyl ingestion from laced pot having led to an overdose. I have seen cases of fentanyl test strips coming up positive…

I'll try to find a good source to back up the claim. The statement was made in a verbal, in-person presentation by the deputy chief of the university police, who was told by the city coroner. But for all I know, he could have made it up in an attempt to scare the kids.

>But for all I know, he could have made it up in an attempt to scare the kids.

Yet you just unquestioningly publicly stated it as fact, so what does that make you?

>My daughter is starting college in the fall and they've had a lot of deaths over the last few years from fentanyl in pot.
