I go to movies at an Alamo Drafthouse. They're known for being pretty willing to kick out unruly guests, and I definitely appreciate it. Went to John Wick 4 at the Alamo drafthouse in NYC and had to wear AirPods the entire movie since it was so unreasonable loud. Totally bizarre experience, hated the extra 10 decibels

I think they understand the error of their ways now. Disney especially have been guilty of overspending. After Thier year of flops, they're going to cut back spending massively. When you look at this week and see how a film that cost $15million is already more profitable than Dial of Destiny that's an embarrassing lesson to them.

Nooo, I want them to sink way too much money into Tron Ares before they give up.

Yeah that’s … quite … the double feature. I wonder what they showed first - GotF being second would be quite the surprise after totoro.

According to Japanese Q&A sites, two movies were played continuously and audience could enter/exit in any time (it's no longer possible), so it was decided by audience.

Also not in DK, and I'm going to assume it wouldn't be in Iceland or Finland either - seems very contra the whole Scandinavian identity, which normally has the issue of being too full of itself but I guess does have some benefits.

Not in Finland, there's some noise before the movie starts and during ads but pretty much everyone turns off their phones (or puts them into airplane mode) when the actual movie starts.

They haven't "realized the error of their ways" if they still pour money into projects no one wants or asked for.

"Cutting spending" usually means removing funding from actual good movies and ideas, and doubling down on money-makers, no matter how dumb, stupid, or creatively bankrupt those money makers become.

this gets bandied about a good amount. have seen it from claimants of both parties.

it sounds good. logical. sounds it. is it?

what’s the distribution of your label attribution? this one suspects that the conservative label sees significantly more use.

this isn’t judgement, it is an observation. humans like belonging, and belonging is cemented through identifying an out group.

the puzzling bit is the labeling itself. did it add value? seems to have mostly taken everyone away from talking about Barbie bombs.

I go to the cinema about 4 times a year with the kids in the UK, usually to see marvel films. I don’t recognise that experience. The whole thing costs about £50 sure (maybe nearer £60 nowadays), and we combine it with bowling and a meal out. Overall it’s a £150 “day out”. It’s not comparable to watching a film at home.

A year of Netflix and a year of Disney+ in the UK would be £200. A family of Four to watch Dial of Destiny in my Local cinema was £80, for one showing, no snacks, no drinks. Is Disney cannibalising itself I wonder?

I don’t go to the cinema to skip a couple of months of waiting. I go for an event. What’s on isn’t that important.
