It's like they are not even trying - bluesky requires an invite, threads requires a phone. So I can't use either. Some saturation.

Do you not have phones?

Why on earth would I use small handheld sitting in front of big monitors?

And no, if I am out and about I am not going be surfing on my phone.

yeah, and they've effectively trapped those 2M users, because when you go to delete your Threads account, it will say [0] that by doing so it will also delete your Instagram account as well... ouch [0] https://i.jollo.org/xNFu9Qvd.png

So you need a little browser extension that will delete all your posts for you.

Which won't exist because threads is app-only?

A friend of mine signed up for a quick glance to see what their feed would bring up, since there's no way to get just who you follow. The literal first handful of things she saw were transphobia, racism, misogyny, or conspiracy theories.

> I think Twitter is here to stay. Twitter has maybe six months but certainly not twelve before going bankrupt. It's done for. I fully agree with the analysis at https://www.theneweuropean.co.uk/the-slow-sad-death-of-twitt...

Not an analysis, just speculative opinions. It's not that I disagree with the speculation, but none of it is backed up. User stats as well as revenue are private. When you put out a strong statement like "revenue is collapsing" you deliver it as fact, whilst it's guess work.

The NY Times got hold of an internal document stating revenue was down 59% YoY.

I'd link to it but it's behind a paywall.

> Twitter is all about politics, current events, thought influencers, and work networking. This is a rather narrow view of what the site is used for. It's also about media, art, and live music -- things that overlap heavily with Instagram. For example, I've found that you unfortunately can't avoid Twitter when keeping up with the underground electronic music scene in the US. Discord and Reddit have made some strides…

Interested in underground electronic music in general. Any recommendations for artists or accounts to follow?

I quite enjoy:

Xenolinguist, Mindex, Voljum, TheBusiness, Maxfield, ToneVizion, Omnist, Josh Teed, Nyquist, EOS, Tripp St, Aleph, Lemondoza, kLL sMTH

Most of these names are on Soundcloud and/or Bandcamp.

It's Americanized electronic bass, dubstep, halftime, and IDM with a psychedelic slant. This kind of stuff might not be everyone's cup of tea :)
