These people are legit triggered. Not thinking in philosophical implications and the vast glorious millennia of history of the humanity in the past and future, but violently agitated and angry with almost physical pains coming up from deep down the center of their body. There really must be something in anime that swings a stinky rotten fish near the face where weebs don't have it, not just the face but maybe the body altogether.

That's of course true, however only putting SourceHut into the picture like that creates an unintended insinuation[0], like only SourceHut is doing such things.

Any and every company will make such decisions about their users, regardless of their size. We all need to keep that in mind.

I just wanted to balance your comment, actually. Not to imply that you're pointing fingers or something.

On the other hand, I'd rather know who made the decision about an outcome involving me, rather than getting canned e-mail replies churned out by corporate machinery.

If it's not a right, does that mean GitHub could ban every black user if they wanted to? I doubt it. Could they ban every Russian (or people of specific nationality in general)? Can they ban everybody sharing an idea? I'm really curious where the line is drawn.

They can in the current state of the Wild West that is the WWW, and also in the payment processing networks, and it's wrong.

Reddit does not use a safelist, you can post just about anything. I imagine there might be a blocklist for known malicious domains. Individual subreddits will have their own rules, and automod can be pretty easily configured with your own safe/block lists.

The blocklist is quite stupid though, the .ru TLD is totally banned, for example. Russia is obviously hated due to their war, but banning .ru is just dumb.

I would say > 95% of .ru domains I come across are malicious so it doesn't seem that unreasonable.

Consider this: if an American might want to see a game/movie/whatever where the NPC population representative of America, a Russian/Chinese might want to enjoy a game where where it is representative of Russia/China.

If that is distasteful or harmful then so are Netflix adaptations.
