#22I know of so many life-long runners that have gotten or even died from cancer. So not sure what to say otherwise but this paper is wrong and needs to be challanged.
The paper suggests you need to be at 80-85% max effort to get maximum benefit, the runners I know tend to concentrate on distance and the social aspect (so are running at an effort where they can sustain a conversation), rather than getting to the end of the run as quickly as possible.

For 80-85% of maximum pulse rate... If your lungs are burning and you're about to collapse after 30 seconds of activity the intensity is about right. Do 30 seconds high intensity, then 90 seconds low intensity (don't sit down or stand still), repeat 8 times. Rowing and sprinting works really well.
Or buy one 30lb kettle bell. No running shoes, low cost, no finding space in your home, no buyer's remorse. A swing with good form works your entire body. 100 reps once or twice a day literally takes 2-4 minutes. Do it after hitting start on the microwave.

An exercise that takes 2-4 minutes is not the same as a HIIT exercise where you exhaust yourself in 30 seconds.

I've seen this bait-and-switch so much that my brain often appends "in mice" automatically. But this study looks at cancer in both humans and mice.
From what I understand after reading the article, it reports three things:
* big fancy result in mice
* measurements of biochemical changes due to exercise in a few humans
* self-reported questionnaire from a population of ~3000 tracked over 20 years, some of whom got cancer

#30Wouldn't be much easier just restrict sugar/glucose consumption, so you don't need to burn it by exercise? I feel this is trying to solve consequences instead of the cause, if I read the article correctly.
