#72I think, after this change and Musk's chatter about "free speech" things; there will be steps that Twitter becomes a more cannabis friendly advertising platform -- before Meta(FB,IG) and Google become 420 friendly.
I wouldn't be too optimistic about that. Even though Musk has famously partaken of weed he's not a strong proponent of it.

Trump says a lot of stuff. I think if he were given the option to rejoin he would do it in an heartbeat.
That said, Elon Musk isn't a big Trump fanboy AFAIK, so everybody assuming this means Trump is back seems kinda strange to me. Is it a billionaire solidarity thing?

#75I'm curious about those voting option 5 — thinking about joining now. What do you expect to get on a Musk-owned Twitter that's not there now? Is there a specific promise made by him that you find appealing?
Not my views personally, but there was a time on Twitter when doubting the effectiveness of certain drugs, expressing views about the 2020 election could get your account suspended. I think people are hoping that things like this won't happen any more because of Musk's views on free speech.
Will somebody really join Twitter for that, though?
I guess I don't see how that increases the attractiveness of the service to someone on HN. Anyone knowledgeable enough to be here presumably has been able to seek out those discussions elsewhere. Is the idea that one can soon move from Gab to Twitter, or something?

He actually said he won't be coming back no matter what according to Fox News. He has his own twitter competitor now so that makes sense.

Same... I'm not sure why people think that the guy who spent billions to create a reusable rocket that can land on little tiny pads in the ocean would throw his hands up and think the problem of bots and spam on Twitter is unsolvable.
