Can somebody write an alternate reality series where UK gifts SG&SS islands to HKers who want freedom more than they dislike cold, and they build a new futuristic city there? There was an expedition [0] to make the first land crossing of the Antarctic continent. The party's ship was stranded and subsequently destroyed by the ice. I won't spoil the story.
