If anyone thinks this is a case of "cancel culture wokerati you can't say anything these days", I can only assume you've never heard of the guy. I agree I've never heard of the guy, and that these quotes are pretty offensive. But had you heard of him before today? That's the "cancel culture" concern here - his status as a well-known offensive figure appears to have been created from scratch between lunchtime and now.

In both cases, the hiring process is either broken if they did not bother to search, or they did search and the company initially did not care. What would a Google search have revealed? As far as I can tell ("antonio garcia martinez before:2021"), neither he nor his book faced any significant controversy until today.
