You would be surprised at how quickly tolerance builds up once someone gets ahold of the good stuff. Considering that this guy is in Berlin, it's probably not as cheap as it is close to the source. Even so, at $300 an eight ball, that's roughly 44 eight balls a day, or roughly 2-4 an hour depending on how hard he's partying. It certainly is on the heavier side of usage profiles I've heard of.

Berlin is not that far from the port of Antwerp, one of the biggest shipping centers in the EU (and world) -- apparently you can get tons of cheap cocaine there that is really high quality.

Power corrupts. If you want to find industries with sexual abuse problems look for ones where the power is concentrated in a handful of unelected people, doubly so if those people form an "old boys club".

Power doesn't corrupt. Power enables. People corrupt themselves. Otherwise agreed.

Absolutely! There was an community of moderators that came by the storage room every day to review the latest intake. There was much discussion. Lunch was served.

I start talking to one of the performers about regular things - the school she was studying at, her family, etc. Then somehow we start talking about how they had a private room that was mainly for Zynga employees, with video game setups, bottle service and private dances. She made it clear that lots of tech companies came in to entertain clients, investors, and whoever else they wanted to.

Last time I let a sales guy bring me somewhere without telling me what the plan was first.

I wasn’t close enough to him to reconcile his receipts, but this was a place were people talked a lot, the number was 400k per month, they sent him to rehab because they were afraid how his family might react if they dismissed him, he had to hold a job in order to continue to receive funds from his family.

I remember reading about a scandal in the 90's or 00's fashion business where it came out the top modelling and talent agencies were in-effect used as escort agencies by super wealthy clients. The arts have always been seedy, but they have also always been a key path to social mobility, so it's kind of a story as old as time.

Same thing happens with cheerleaders of famous teams too.. (at least I remember an article where they were being forced to attend parties wearing little black dresses, with creepy old dudes in attendance).

Now what constitutes "forced" and I'm pretty sure there were lots of wannabe cheerleaders who would rather be in their place.

my experience in the US navy with alcohol lends strong credibility to this.

heavy drinkers can put away 750mL of 80proof a night and not be hungover the next day (much less debilitated). a person with no tolerance would drink that amount and either vomit or die - possibly both.

a heavy drinker with an uncommonly high tolerance is capable of truly startling things.
