I have no beef with Wayland specifically and I agree that if you are harassing maintainers of any project you're probably an asshole. However,

I'm a game developer. None of the software I use works reliably or at all on Wayland. None of it. And I'm completely fine with that, I'll keep using Xorg and you can give me a call when my "precious use-case" is handled.

That's because PCs aren't phones and the software run on PCs does not attack the user. This is different from phones where the user is the product to be sold and almost all software is antagonistic but it doesn't apply to the linux desktop, yet.

edit: I completely agree about "electron applications". Those are not native applications on linux, those are badly made backdoors using browser runtimes. I do not run them and I strongly recommend to my family, friends, and peers not to run them.

I always found systemd to be fine (I'm not a sysadmin, just prefer Linux on my PCs).

PulseAudio did have some growing pains, though. I don't remember them exactly, but I remember having to tinker way too much to get apps to work together/correctly between ALSA and PulseAudio, etc. I still have a finicky laptop that REFUSES to do audio over HDMI unless I boot the machine with the HDMI cable plugged in already.

No real point, here. Just rambling.

The funny thing about your funny remark is that the inverse is used as primary anti-wayland argument.

Oh no, a single thing doesn't work yet, the entire system must be fundamentally broke for everyone. Definitely not just a bug or feature someone hasn't gotten to yet, no no.

If anyone wants to keep using X, they're free to step up and maintain it. So far no one has been willing.

I don't know that it does - the author has, as far as I can tell, three small commits in Wayland:

That's not a Wayland problem. It's up to XFCE to implement it.

Not really though.

XFCE works fine under X11. Stay with X11 in that case, but it's incredibly arrogant and dismissive of the Wayland folks to say "your use case will work under Wayland, you have no excuses" and then also say "well, actually, it will work if you force your upstream to port your DE to it".

He also maintains wlroots, which is the base for basically every non-gnome(and KDE?) Wayland compositor/WM.
