#123As I said in the Apple-Parler thread: Massive Big Tech conglomerates must be busted through antitrust enforcement and Section 230 must be updated to ban predatory algorithms which have inflamed 7 years of sectarian chaos and violence. It's not a free speech issue: It's about Too Big To Fail. They have too much power, beyond that of even the world's largest governments. This cannot stand.
It’s a little surprising to me that of all things, i.e. the banning of a racist, sexist, traitor, and inducer of violence on social media, is what causes Hacker News to say big tech needs to be busted, and not the multiple violations and manipulations they themselves have been a part of.
I do agree that many corporations are too powerful. This whole situation is the result of a century of corporatism in America, corporations using their influence and (domestic) evangelical religious extremists to further their capitalist goals. It’s why "under God" is in the Pledge of Allegiance, and it’s how the modern day Republicans came to be.
I encourage anyone to watch Adam Curtis’ documentaries. He nails it on the head of how we got here.

#125Yes, I think this is actually it.
After he basically commanded them to "Stop the Steal", I said that Facebook and Twitter would ban him. I also said that nuclear war was also on the table. If he is so unAmerican that he would actually tell his mob to attack the Capitol buildings, he really doesn't care about America at all. Being as petulant as he is, nuclear war is very much on the table. That's how crazy this situation is.

I think the first tweet is a good argument. I personally think second tweet is not only a stretch it's the exact kind of tweet POTUS should have been using Twitter. He just says, in a normal manner, "I won't attend X" without SHOUTING or using weird adjectives like "nasty woman" or whatever.
I think it's important to understand that Twitter needs to be very conservative here. All social media banned Trump, and twitter really is the last place his voice can be heard (via a famous privately-owned social media organ). Well, if Trump tweets "I'm gonna nuke Iran" tomorrow they don't want to be the place Trump announces this.

They have absolutely not wanted to ban him since day 1. He brings in millions of users and clicks.
