This might not be so bad for mindgeek. They just cut their storage costs in half, probably mostly cutting out the long tail end of videos that they don't really need. They just made a strong argument for increased regulation that will hurt any newcomers and hurt social media competitors more than them. They just got a whole lot of free press.

Non-local distribution? Very few people consume CP and it's extremely unlikely for a consumer to actually encounter the victim in real life, so from a utilitarian perspective the obvious question is: Why is it "very, very bad"?

What’s worse, Reddit disables NSFW/porn content in Incognito on iOS Safari and prompts you to install the app. How that got past Apple is beyond me.
More evidence that Reddit hate their users.

To say this is a hit piece against PornHub is to oversimplify the issue.
The parent company MindGeek (Revenue: 460 million USD) formerly known as ManWin has been receiving such criticisms for years now.
This is not a hit-piece against a small streaming start-up. It's a wake-up call to monitor a tech giant.

I think the people in my local area would consider this a good thing. Even just pursuing platonic friendships with women upsets people so I've stopped talking to women altogether and quit all social media despite having little interest in porn

Why are you so sure that the psychology of sex and violence are identical, especially in such a specific context? They're totally different things. It seems ridiculous to point to the studies on one and say, "surely the studies on the other shall have the same result". Personally, I have no idea, but your premise doesn't make sense.
