Is there good coverage of how Intel became so uncompetitive? My instinct is to say this is just the natural result of the presence of MBAs who are trained to focus _exclusively_ on this quarter's results so ignore R&D investment and also shit on employees by doing gimmicks like hotdesking to pinch pennies. I'm willing to bet my intuition is wrong, especially given my extremely deep bias against MBAs and 'this quarter…

The CEO is, literally, one of these MBA types and he has recursively applied this thinking throughout the whole organization.

For me the overly agressive tone was detrimental while reading the article. I kept thinking: "Is this really necessary?" It reminds me of the rethoric that we've seen in politics in the last four years.

Um, no. It is caused by stimulated emission in the lasing medium, when electrons drop from a higher to lower energy level. Pairs of photons do not interact with each other.

In a typical green laser pointer a 1064nm light is produced via ordinary laser mechanisms, then 1064nm light is upconverted in a non-linear medium to 523nm.

I'm interpreting 'focus' as 'prioritize' or something similar, rather than 'attend to, to the exclusion of all other concerns'.

You can have more than one priority, even though you can't have more than one TOP priority.
