I’m confused, because it starts by extolling the need for a “balanced team” then immediately paints “good” developers as all having the same characteristics (like being competitive).
I got a good laugh at “we don’t have any average developers here”. In my experience, the trait that most reliably predicts overall bad engineering culture at a company is ego.

I think it might be one of those "all press is good press" PR strategies centered around manufacturing controversy. It's a shame how effective that is. I'd like to say that hopefully, prospective customers will see how absurd it is, but I think that this kind of oversimplistic biz-pop-psychology tripe gets really easily embedded. I think that using the equivalent of a horoscope to reason about your product engineering organization seems predestined to end in hilarity, unexpected consequences and obvious failure.

#6The first two archetypes presented here summarized by their final statements is "Most developers are average, average developers are trash, we don't have any average developers here. The Wolves are 10x Ninja Rockstars and that's all we hire."
This article was entirely meaningless clickbait.

#7This is everything wrong with the industry today. No, not the "10 different developers" but the person who wrote this. Yes, I get that there was an attempt to sell this a satirical but it's just stereo typing mixed in with humble bragging. The average developer, "is perhaps the most common"? No shit. That's the definition of average. Good to know out of all the sociopaths listed the one who just does their job isn't going to be working there. The only other one you passed on was the "imploder" who is just as screwed up as all the other personalities but doesn't buy off on your corporate bs. I can't wait to head over to Glassdoor and see what they have to say about you.
I also noticed that every person described here is a dude. Way to telegraph to the entire internet that you don't bother hiring women.

#8If anyone ever tells you directly that you fall into one of these categories, please laugh in their face and quit ASAP.
This is dehumanizing. You're being categorized for organizational purposes. It dictates how to interact and manage these stereotypes instead of actually talking about the problem and treating people like humans (much less as coworkers and colleagues).

#10Why so much negativity? Come down, this is a funny collection or players - and a _great_ way for them to be noticed. My startup isn’t on the front page of HN.. They are. And I totally enjoyed reading it.
