AMP results are annoying enough on mobile that I switched my default search engine to duckduckgo on my phone.

For reportedly being there to accelerate the web, AMP pages remain consistently slower and less reliable than the original websites for me.

Earlier quoted context omitted.

Who's being forced to use AMP? The user? Remember, the user is the product .

The product is being forced to use AMP.

Is it? I was under the impression that AMP is opt-in.

My unpopular opinion. I love AMP. Mobile internet for me ( maybe on worse devices ), was becoming a non-thing for me. AMP let's me check the news again.

My opinion might be because I don't have much understanding of it as a framework, but from a non power user perspective, I've found the UX to be amazing.

With amp I basically do "find the page, edit url to remove amp, load again" dance. It is definitely not faster.

It is for the website developer. But if a website offers the AMP page, the user cannot skip it

AMP in part made me switch to Apple News - it's buggy and doesn't respect browser history (major usability failure on Google's part).
